Happy Hearts Counseling Team

Meet our loving and talented counselors!

Danielle Jones Zareie, Ed.S., LPC, NCC

Therapist, Clinical Director

Hi! I'm Danielle, founder of Happy Hearts Counseling. I strive to create a place where children, teens, parents, and families can come to be heard, understood, and supported. I find that each stage of life comes with it's own unique set of challenges, and I love working with children, teens, and adults of all ages. I have a particular passion for working with adolescents to navigate some of the overwhelming pressures they often feels as they head into young adulthood. I also enjoy utilizing play and creative expression techniques to guide younger children as they learn to identify and express new (and often big) emotions in a healthy way. With adults, I most often find that emotional hardship is connected to finding work/family/life balance and juggling the many hats and responsibilities that come with adulthood. Regardless of what stage of life you find yourself or child in, my goal is to help identify individual strengths and develop a unique coping skill toolbox to help each person find the value within themselves and feel confident in his or her ability to tackle the hurdle in front of them. From there, we can begin to re-frame perceptions, modify behavior, and long term change can emerge.

Andi Hodgin, Ed.S., LAPC

Therapist

Hi, I'm Andi! I have been a practicing counselor for twelve years in both private practice and school settings. My specialties lie in helping children and parents build stronger and healthier bonds to aid in overcoming life stresses. I love working with children and adolescents ages 5-18. I was an American School Counselor Association School Counselor of the Year Semifinalist top 16 in the nation where I was recognized at the White House. I believe my experience as a school counselor gives me a unique perspective on helping children thrive during this season of life. It is never too early or too late to begin cultivating healthy coping strategies and self-regulation techniques that will serve your child into his or her adult life.

To help parents, I also like to include activities and provide tools that you and your child/teen can work on together at home. As a parent, you are your child's biggest support system, and I want to help support you along your child's journey as well.

Angie Fowler, M.Ed., M.S., LAPC

Therapist

I have taught students with learning differences from pre-kindergarten through eighth

grade in both public and private educational settings, as well as served as an

administrator at a school for students with dyslexia. I switched careers several years ago when my own children began struggling with anxiety due to the many pressures teens face today.  Counseling gave them a safe place in which to learn, heal, and grow. My hope is to help other adolescents, teens and young adults by providing the same nurturing environment and therapeutic partnership offered to my own family. I often use Cognitive Behavioral and

Mindfulness techniques in my therapeutic approaches with teens, young adults, and women.  In my free time I enjoy playing golf and spending time with my husband and three beautiful daughters.  I am grateful you are considering counseling and have taken the first step of visiting this website. I look forward to getting to know you!

Brandi Smallwood, LPC, CPCS, NCC

Therapist

Hi there! I’m Brandi. For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to helping others.  I have had the honor of working in many therapeutic settings that have led me to the child, adolescent, and young adult populations.  Some of these settings include working in an intensive outdoor therapeutic environment for teen boys; working as a Community Support Specialist helping to implement life, communication, and coping skills within the family system; and working as the Director of Counseling in a private school setting. My areas of specialty include working with children/teens with learning differences, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, social challenges, and family stress.  My counseling style is integrative and I cater to the style that is beneficial to each child's unique needs.

My primary goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, accepting environment to allow my clients to find their inner warrior. There is no one else like you/your child, and sometimes life’s challenges hinder us in remembering that we are unique and capable. I hope  to be able to help ignite your child's inner strengths that will allow them to work through the circumstances that brought you here. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you.
